When it comes to cleaning the streets of Canton, its not drugs, guns or violence littering the sidewalks... it's shopping carts. Canton City Council will vote on an ordinance, Monday, to help collect shopping carts. Councilmen Jason Scaglione and Robert Fisher said the abandoned carts are an eyesore and safety hazard to drivers. The original ordinance penalized business owners for stolen carts left around the city. Mayor Thomas Bernabei helped revise a "good, realistic" ordinance that recognizes stores as victims of theft. Ohio said Wednesday it’s ending the same-day issuing of Ohio driver’s licenses and will mail them instead to save money and increase security.
Licenses will arrive about 10 days after they’re issued once the change takes effect July 2, the Department of Public Safety said. Drivers will be issued temporary licenses and ID cards in the meantime.
