NEWBURGH HEIGHTS, Ohio — Work 32 hours a week, but get paid for 40. That sounds like a dream, right?
It's becoming a reality in the village of Newburgh Heights.
On Tuesday, Mayor Trevor Elkins introduced legislation to reduce the standard work week of full-time employees to 32 hours per week. The take-home pay of employees will stay the same and they will still receive their full-time benefits.
Newburgh Heights Village Council unanimously adopted the policy.
According to a release from the village, the new policy is intended to provide personnel with an improved work-life balance, while also providing a competitive recruiting and retention advantage.

PORT CLINTON, Ohio (WJW) - After a devastating barn fire that killed 10 animals at the African Safari Wildlife Park in Port Clinton, the park has decided to close for the winter season.
"With your care and support, we will recover from this crisis and look forward to welcoming visitors back to the Wildlife Park again in early Spring, 2020," the park wrote on its Facebook page.

The House Judiciary Committee approved a bill Wednesday that legalizes marijuana on the federal level, removing it from schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act.
The legislation, which passed 24 to 10, has a high chance of approval in the House where Democrats control the chamber with 234 seats. It’s likely to face a tougher battle in the Republican-controlled Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell opposes marijuana legalization.

BEREA, Ohio -- Myles Garrett will not play again this season, and maybe longer.
The NFL announced Friday that the Cleveland Browns defensive end has been suspended for the rest of this season, including the playoffs should the Browns make it, and will have to meet with the commissioner's office before being reinstated in 2020.
Garrett ripped the helmet off Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph and clubbed him in the head with it in the final seconds of Thursday night's game.
Garrett's suspension, which is at least six games, is the longest in NFL history for a single on-field incident.
