LORDSTOWN, Ohio — The difference between May 8, 2019 and June 25, 2020 is technically just over a year but in many ways it seems a lifetime ago for the Lordstown Motors Corporation as they get set to roll out their new all-electric pickup truck Endurance Thursday at the former GM Assembly plant. It’s an event big enough to draw Vice President Mike Pence to the Mahoning Valley for the occasion.

Cleveland State University released its plan to resume in-person classes when the fall semester begins on August 24.

"We have a plan that we think is going to be successful," CSU President Harlan Sands told 3News. "We are investing more to make sure that our campus stays safe, and to make sure the right behaviors are practiced," he said

There are now a total of 45,537 COVID-19 cases in Ohio after 729 new cases were reported Monday, the highest number of new daily cases in the state since May 21.

The World Health Organization on Sunday reported the largest single-day increase in coronavirus cases by its count, at more than 183,000 new cases in the latest 24 hours.

The UN health agency said Brazil led the way with 54,771 cases tallied and the U.S. next at 36,617. Over 15,400 came in in India.

Experts said rising case counts can reflect multiple factors including more widespread testing as well as broader infection.
