WDJQ Q92 / AM 1310 WDPN Radio Mourns the Passing of Longtime Employee Dee Zink

Alliance, Ohio – April 6, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dee Zink, a cherished former employee whose decades of dedication left a lasting impact on our organization. Dee passed away over the weekend, five years after her retirement in 2021.

Dee began her career shortly after graduating from high school, working as a bookkeeper for Don Peterson, Sr. at the Alliance Review newspaper. Her strong work ethic and commitment quickly became evident. In 1981, she transitioned to the Peterson family’s radio operations, joining WDJQ Q92 FM and AM 1310 WDPN in Alliance, where she would faithfully serve for 40 years until her retirement.

Throughout her tenure, Dee was the backbone of the stations’ daily operations, managing bookkeeping, accounting, and a wide range of administrative responsibilities. Beyond her professional contributions, she was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for her colleagues.

“Very few people walked through the doors of this station as many times as Dee did,” said Don Peterson, III, Vice President of Operations and Station Manager. “She was like a mom to all our staff, handling all our bookkeeping and accounting needs along with many other administrative duties. She bridged the gap from the original Q92 to where we are today and our hearts go out to her son Jason, her grandkids and the rest of her family and friends.”

Dee’s legacy is one of loyalty, compassion, and quiet excellence. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working with her.

We extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Dee’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
