3 Former Minneapolis Police Officers to Be Criminally Charged In George Floyd’s Death

Three former Minneapolis police officers will be criminally charged Wednesday in connection with the death of George Floyd in their custody, Sen. Amy Klobuchar said.
In addition, Derek Chauvin, a fourth former officer who had already been charged with third-degree murder in the case, will now be charged with second-degree murder, the Minnesota Democrat wrote in a post on Twitter.

New coronavirus cases in Ohio were the lowest they have been in more than a month.

Kent State University unveils initial plan for return to on-campus instruction

KENT, Ohio — After moving to remote learning due to the COVID-19 crisis, Kent State University announced initial guidance for students, staff and faculty to return to campus.

University leadership has been consulting with local and national authorities and its own health experts to create the plan to return to campus in order to ensure the health and safety of everyone, the university said.

Man who drove semi into Minneapolis crowd was independent contractor for North Canton company

A semi truck that was caught on camera driving into a crowd of peaceful protesters near downtown Minneapolis Sunday is from a North Canton-based trucking company.

Thousands of people were marching on a closed Minneapolis freeway over the death of George Floyd ducked for their lives when the semi rolled into their midst.

State police said it appears to have been deliberate. No one was hit.

Minneapolis cop charged with murder in Floyd’s death

The police officer who was seen on video kneeling on the neck of George Floyd, a handcuffed black man who died in custody after pleading that he could not breathe, was arrested Friday and charged with murder in a case that sparked protests across the United States and violence in Minneapolis. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said Derek Chauvin was charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter. Freeman did not provide immediate details, but said a criminal complaint would be made available later Friday and that more charges were possible.

A CNN crew has been arrested while covering Minneapolis protests

A CNN crew was arrested by police Friday morning while giving a live television report in Minneapolis, where the crew was covering ongoing protests over the death of George Floyd.

The crew, including correspondent Omar Jimenez, were handcuffed and detained as Jimenez gave a live report on a Minneapolis street shortly after 5 a.m. CT (6 a.m. ET).
Police told the crew they were being detained because they were told to move, and didn't, one member of the CNN crew relayed to the network.
