Britney Spears has been admitted into a mental hospital, according to TMZ.
She checked into the unspecified facility last week and will reportedly be there for a month.
The gossip site follows a People magazine report saying the “Toxic” singer is dealing with emotional issues while coping with her father Jamie’s failing health. He reportedly suffered colon and intestinal problems last year.
People reported Spears was taking some “me time,” but didn’t mention her allegedly being institutionalized.
The 37-year-old singer recently took a break from her Las Vegas residency to look after her father. Spears posted a message to her 21.6 million fans on Instagram telling them “We all need to take a little ‘me time.’”
That caption was written under the words “Fall in Love with Taking Care of Yourself, Mind, Body, Spirit,” printed in big purple letters.
Spears has struggled with emotional issues in the past. She was famously photographed attacking a car with an umbrella during a rough patch following her 2007 divorce. The singer’s head was shaved when she went on her rampage.
