City Council to Vote on “Good, Realistic” Shopping Cart Ordinance

When it comes to cleaning the streets of Canton, it isn’t drugs, guns or violence littering the sidewalks… it’s shopping carts. Monday, Canton City Council will vote on an ordinance solving the shopping cart problem. Councilmen Jason Scaglione and Robert Fisher said the abandoned carts are an eyesore and safety hazard to drivers. The original ordinance penalized business owners for carts left around the city. Mayor Thomas Bernabei helped revise a new ordinance recognizing businesses as victims of theft.
